Name: Heath Andrew Ledger
Birthdate: 4 April 1979
Zodiac: Aries (II)
Home Sweet Home: (Subiaco) Perth, Western Australia, AUS
Family:"Mum (Sally)," "Dad (Kim)," & sisters, Kate, Ashliegh, Olivia
First TV Series: Sweat, as a gay byciclist aspiring for the Olympic Games. Landed the role at age 14, becoming the first person in Australia to play a gay role on television.
First US TV Series: Roar, as 'Conor', opposite Felicity's Kerri Russell (whose character was short-lived. "...it was a mistake for them to kill her off." - Heath ) "This was a complete Braveheart rip-off." - Heath
Where the US attention got him: Heath soon landed a role in the dark comedy, Two Hands, (as Jimmy) and the teen comedy based on Shakespear's The Taming of the Shrew, titled 10 Things I Hate About You (as Patrick Verona) after Roar was cancelled. The two films -- Two Hands being filmed in Australia, and 10 Things... being filmed in Tacoma, WA USA -- were filmed back to back. "...I literally had only two days between them." - Heath
So then what?: After filming wrapped on 10 Things, Heath took a year off -- sleeping on park benches, friends' couches, rooftops in Manhattan, and, from the sound of it, pretty much wherever he happened to fall, and eating noodles morning, noon, and night -- sticking to his guns and holding out for the right part. (We say, good for him! It's definitely worked in his favor.)
This is where it really picks up!: Finally, Heath landed the role of Gabriel Martin in The Patriot, playing the son of Mel Gibson's character. Unfortunately, his character was killed in this movie but, fortunately, he did a good job of playing dead. :D If you haven't seen it yet, then it's time to come out from under that rock of yours and join us here in the real world. ;)
"An' Then...?": And then, he took another, semi-long break before breaking out again...this time as the lead, William Thatcher/Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein, in A Knight's Tale.
"An' THEEEN...?": So, after he proves to the world that anyone can "change their stars," Heath blows us all away as Billy Bob Thornton's son, Sonny Grotowski, in Monster's Ball.
And so the story goes...: Heath then took on the role of Harry Faversham in, The Four Feathers.
Does it ever end?: "'Round and 'round she goes, where she stops, no one knows." You can expect to see Heath grace the silver screen once again as he plays the role of one of his very own childhood heroes, Ned Kelly (Now playing in Oz and various other countries. Not to be released in the US until June 2004). Ned Kelly, for those who don't know, was an Irish/Aussie bushranger who, in short, has been labelled, 'the Australian answer to Jesse James'; 'A real life Robin Hood', and so on (Notice the differences of opinion, there? I'm not contradicting myself there...people just can't agree on anything). If you're interested in learning more about the historical facts, go here. Heath will also begin filming "The Brothers Grimm", alongside Matt Damon and Robin Williams, at the end of this month, as the elder of the two famous storytelling brothers, with Matt Damon playing the younger.
